An award-winning short story writer, novelist, poet, and playwright based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, my work spans fiction, poetry, theatre, and creative writing for both adults and children.
I am the author of Breathe and Swim, novels that were published by Penguin Books NZ Ltd, with Aftermath being scheduled for publication through Bateman Books on September 1, 2026.
I have had short fiction and poetry published in journals, magazines, and anthologies across New Zealand, Australia, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and a number of short stories have been adapted for radio (RNZ National).
My play A Time Like This has been produced by community theatre groups in Gisborne and Palmerston North, and at BATS Theatre in Wellington.
All The Thing I Have, a full-length play, was selected for a rehearsed reading at Circa Theatre, Wellington, in 2024.
I hold a Master of Arts in Creative Writing through the International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML) at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand.
My creative work has also been recognised through numerous fellowships and residencies, including the Foxton Fellowship, the New Zealand Society of Authors’ Lilian Ida Smith Award, the Varuna Residency in New South Wales, and the RAK Mason Fellowship in Wairarapa.
I work as a registered nurse, and love to travel, attend the theatre, spend time with my family and friends, and potter in my garden.

My creative practice extends into community theatre through writing and directing plays, alongside teaching creative writing for children and adults, and running writing retreats.
